News from Javett-UP
12 June 2025
The Javett-UP will temporarily close its doors from 14 June to 03 July 2025 to make way for the installation of a major new exhibition titled One and the Many. During this time, the gallery spaces will undergo a transformation in preparation for the exhibition.
Guest curated by Storm Janse van Rensburg in collaboration with the Curatorial team, One and the Many brings together large scale artworks by leading contemporary South African artists Stephané E Conradie, Goldendean, Ledelle Moe, Abdus Salaam, Inga Somdyala and Katlego Tlabela to be in conversation with three collections in Javett-UP's care: the South32 Collection, the Javett Family Collection and the Bongi Dhlomo Collection.
One and the Many will feature various constellations and groupings of artworks that explore the way in which artists narrate the relationship between the individual and the collective, or the self in relation to others. The thematic arrangements will investigate new relationships and meanings between artists, artworks, genres and periods in art history. Through spatial changes and curatorial gestures, this exhibition aims to open up different possibilities for reading images and artwork.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause. We look forward to welcoming our community back with renewed energy and a powerful new exhibition.

Thank you for your continued support. See you in July, refreshed and ready to explore One and the Many.
